History Of Transport Humans have been trying to come up with more efficient and easy transport for many years. Travelling by foot, and riding animals such as horses, donkeys or camels have been something which humans have been doing for thousands of years. The horse and cart was invented to make it easier to transport more people, faster, with less time spent resting the horse. More recently, in the last 400 or so years, many new forms of transport have been invented, such as travelling by plane, car, train, truck, bike and tram.
History of Planes The technology of planes has come a long way since the first working airplane, which the Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur created. Their first successful flight came on December 17, 1903. The first plane powered by a jet engine to fly was the Heinkel He 178 V1. This was the first prototype used by the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, on August 27, 1939.
History of Trains The first train was invented in 1804 to transport iron. It could carry around 10 tons at a time. However, it was in 1825 when a train was first used to transport people.
History of Cars
It is believed that the first gasoline-powered car was made by Karl Benz in 1885. It could drive as fast as 16 km/h.
